Climate Change Solutions for the Rehabilitation of Local Roads Seminar
An informative, free seminar presented by AustStab
Gallery Room, Sandown Racecourse, 3pm - 5pm, Thursday 26 February
With climate change on the agenda and the rising cost of oil, diesel and bitumen, local government practitioners are reviewing current road construction practices to determine if they can do it better, take into consideration the climate change and minimise the effect of increases in costs to maintain both sealed and unsealed roads.
Rising bitumen and fuel prices means rising asphalt costs and material transport cost. Councils can do it better by recycling their existing asphalt and granular local roads with insitu stabilisation at lower costs. Listen to how other local government engineers from both urban and rural areas recycle their roads without utilising new quarried products (reducing costs) and reduce CO2 emissions at the same time.
Unsealed roads in rural communities have the perennial problem of being too dusty during dry periods and after rain the surface can turn into slush leading to only four wheel drive access. An economical solution that will also reduces dust emissions and lower maintenance costs will be presented at the seminar.
Speakers will be drawn from local government and industry, and information packs will be available to all attendees. If you want another reason to come to ACE, the free seminar will be a good opportunity to see road construction equipment and talk to recycling specialists in the AustStab booth.
The details of the free seminar can be found on the ACE2009 website or contact the Executive Director of AustStab at
inquiry@auststab.com.au or call on 0411 445 058. The seminar will commence at 3:00pm on Thursday 25th February 2008 and close at 5:00pm. Please register for the event by sending an SMS or email, and come at 2:30 for drinks and food. The exhibition will still be open after the seminar.
